O2Micro Granted Pivotal Phase Array Inverter Patent


SANTA CLARA, Calif. & GEORGE TOWN, Grand Cayman--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 6, 2003--O2Micro® International Limited (Nasdaq:OIIM - News), a leading supplier of innovative power management and security ICs to mobile computer and communications manufacturers, was granted 56 claims under United States patent number 6,501,234 for its Phase Array invention.

"Patented Phase Array architecture facilitates the large panel LCD TV and monitor market," stated Sterling Du, Chairman and CEO of O2Micro. "The Phase Array offers a flexible Phase-on-demand(TM) design methodology to support large CCFL panel sizes."


This patented architecture is the basis of O2Micro's Phase Array backlight Intelligent Inverter® controller chipset, designed for large LCD panel applications, such as LCD TVs and monitors that require multiple lamps. The chipset consists of an Array Hub and Power Controller.
